Flood-recoverable kitchens: practical upgrades for faster recovery and peace of mind
Practical upgrades for faster recovery and peace of mind
To be recognised alongside an inspirational group of individuals and organisations who are working tirelessly to support society is truly an honour.
The Changemakers list celebrates “those who focus not on themselves but on making life better for others”, and I’m deeply touched to have been nominated by readers of the Big Issue.
It means so much to know that my work raising awareness of flood risk and helping people prepare for and recover from flooding is having an impact.
Flooding is a devastating experience – something I know all too well from my own lived experience when my home was inundated during the River Severn floods back in 2000. That event (and several more floods later!) changed my life and spurred me to dedicate the past two decades to advocating for flood resilience, meeting thousands of flood victims, and creating and sharing free resources to help people reduce flooding impacts at their homes, recover more quickly, and ‘build back better’.
I want to thank everyone who has supported me over the years, whether that’s by sharing your stories, working together on campaigns, or helping to spread the message about flood preparedness. This recognition is not just about me but about all of us working together to create a more resilient future.
